Many of you will have an interest in research, some simply prefer the clinical world and these are choices we all have the privillage of making. You may well know that the Society has an educational special interest group and as it evolves it is good to have articles that perhaps challenge our thinking. We recognise that if you are reading this piece and you enjoy research and the academic world you may well be even questioning this article, but please read it in the spirit of being just that, an article.
The Society are always key to remind colleagues of the evidence pyramid for research, but this may also depend on the quality of the research – currently we will leave that one there.
