The survey was conducted in conjunction with the 2024 ARF renewals. Out of the 75, 743 DCPs on the register, 43, 692 registrants responded, interestingly of the 43,692 who responded, 36,257 were dental nurses. None of this is new to the Society and the evidence is reaffirming what we have been saying for so long. The figures preseted are based on the dental nursing registrants of July 2024, but the trends are a reality. It is perhaps worth noting that in July 2024 there were only 45, 225 dentists on the register.
Fiona Ellwood on behalf of the Society said ‘ the report is long overdue, we are delighted that the report picks up on many of our key concerns and what is portrayed is the need to now continue with follow up actions. Fiona added that before the election, she was invited to present a proposal framework, with a central focus on dental nurses. It was well received, but of course this may well have been shelved with a change in government.
