The Dental Schools Council, representing the UK’s dental schools, is calling on the Government to urgently commit to expanding dental training places to address the UK’s escalating oral health crisis. DSC notes With rising demand for dental professionals and growing regional disparities in access to care, the UK is facing a critical shortfall in meeting its dental needs. Expanding training capacity is a crucial step to securing the long-term sustainability of NHS dentistry.
In training more clinicians, there will inevitably be a need to train and maintain a talented dental nurse workforce. The Society who have dental nurse education, progression and success at the centre of their work are keen to see how this will unfold and support the DSC position on this.
