Celebrating 50 Journals – College of General Dentistry 30th January, 2025

College of General Dentistry held celebrations marking the 50th Journal Publication. We are delighted that amongst the early publications the Executive Director featured. Fiona attended the event at The Court Room, Cutlers’ Hall, London. Fiona’s contribution and article was:

‘Dental Emergencies: Perceived impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the mental health and wellbeing of dental teams in the UK’ https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/20501684211029425?icid=int.sj-full-text.citing-articles.341

This was a timely article and linked not only to the difficult and challenging time of the COVID-19 pandemic, but to a time when the whole workforce needed to think differently and work differently. Although time has moved on, it will take a while to truly move forward and for many they may well always be impacted. Everyone manages, deals with, or navigates situations and life’s challenges differently. If the literature is to be believed post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) has been associated with the some of the lasting impacts of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

Fiona commented at the time and stands by that comment today “you never truly know what is going on in someone’s life, we can all make a difference and we should.” A huge thankyou to the College.
