Education & Training Accreditation
The purpose of the scheme is to indicate to SBDN members that they can have confidence in the quality of the education and training and that it meets the General Dental Council (GDC) Enhanced Continual Professional Development (ECPD) requirements.
On applying for SBDN accreditation the applicant/s will engage in the accreditation approval process which is clearly defined by the SBDN Quality Assurance approval team. SBDN have a robust quality framework which considers a number of quality markers and indicators acknowledged across the industry and internationally.
SBDN maintain a list of those who have successfully completed the accreditation process and with permission of the provider, make this apparent on the Society website. Those eligible to join the approved list will display the SBDN accreditation logo. Having gained approval all education and training providers must continue to engage with the QA approval team and submit annual return forms identifying any updates or changes since approval was granted.
SBDN initially launched this accreditation scheme in 2016 and have since updated the scheme to meet the General Dental Council Enhanced Continual Professional Development guidelines from 2018. The intention was to help dental nurses make informed choices when engaging in both education and Enhanced Continual Professional Development activity.
