Heidi Cresswell has been announced as the President-Elect for 2025-2026. It is an enormous honour to welcome Heidi to the role. She has been a key influencer in the Society’s growth and direction for many years. She has dedicated her dental nursing career to supporting, developing, and facilitating others at every juncture of their careers. Heidi is also committed to the future of dental nursing progression and dental nursing careers and has an abundance of experience working with employers, stakeholders, awarding bodies, providers and the regulators.
Her day-to-day work is with dental nursing students of the future, helping them navigate the current dental and oral health landscape, and with post-registration dental nurses committed to enhancing their careers. With an extensive Chairside career, experience as a dual role practice manager and a senior role in a Further Education setting and across dental nursing awards, she will bring together that ‘real time’ insight to the world of trainee dental nurses, the highs and lows that they face daily in practice, whether they come from a private, mixed or NHS setting and the challenges that registered dental nurses face in their determination to enhance their role.

Heidi was a crucial member of the Society in bringing the Dental Nursing Summit to fruition, and she has already attended her first meeting. This was with the General Dental Council, in Birmingham, on the 2nd December, looking at the registration platform that will be introduced in 2026. For those of you who may recognise Heidi from within the Society, she has been our finance officer and will step down from this role at the AGM in 2026, when she becomes President of the Society.
Heidi has truly given everything to the profession, and the time is right for her to step up and help the Society as it moves into the next chapter and as it continues on a journey that strongly, professionally and compassionately advocates for a profession whereby dental nurses are valued, not just listened to, but where actions come about because of their compelling discussions and their continued drive and ability to make a difference to patient outcomes, as key members of the oral health and dental teams of today and the future.
