News from the Dental Nurse Historian Group

Many of you will know that we work in collaboration with the Dental Nurse Historian Group and we are delighted to hear that through a new contact additional titles/names have been added to the existing list. Fiona Ellwood recently presented to a room of historians and received some excellent feedback.

Adamant to ensure that dental nursing history is not lost, misinterpreted or rewritten the Dental Nursing Historian Group have cretated a space to capture those times that have informed our work of today. Only recently the Society has been working with a family member who believed her grandmother was a dental nurse many, many years ago.

For those who have read the textbook recently published by Janine Brooks and Fiona Ellwood, you will have an insight in to some of the historical perspectives of dental nursing. You will also be aware of some of our international relationships and how our history was indeed influenced by countries such as America and New Zealand. You may also know that we support the Dental Surgery Assistants (DSA) Alumni Group, founded in memory of Dame Margaret Seward in August 2021.

The Dental Nurse Historian Group have added : Dental Orderly; Dental Clerk Orderly; Dental Operating Room Assistant; Dental Clerk Assistant, and Dental Support Specialist and are grateful for the new information.
