The Patron of the Society of British Dental Nurses Awarded Tina Gorman The Outstanding Contribution To Dental Nursing Award at the East Midlands symposium on the 6th April, 2019. This award is unique in that it is not awarded on a regular basis and is awarded only to those who have made a difference to the profession over time.
Tina a former dental nurse herself has worked in both Dublin and Belfast and of course returned to Birmingham as the new Dental Hospital opened. Her role was as a dental nurse manager and associate director initially and now it includes the School of hygiene and therapy. She worked tirelessly for her professional organisation in Ireland and held talks towards registration with General Dental Council in Dublin. On returning to Birmingham a familiar place to her, her wise council helped guide the Society in its early stages.
Tina is the first to say she was only doing her job and indeed that was the sentiment behind her speech on the day. Anyone that knows her will know that she is so driven and proud of the dental nursing profession and sets very high standards as a professional. Tina thanked the Society for the award which was totally unexpected and praised the hard work that had gone on to date behind the scene and encouraged all of the delegates to join up and help SBDN on their journey.
Patron Fiona Ellwood thanked Tina for her contribution and along with Kate Kerslake CEO at NEBDN presented Tina with her award.
