Dental Nursing has so much to offer and sometimes we simply need to think outside the box …or perhpas we have spent so much time looking outside the box it is time to start looking inwards again.
The Society are keen to help you find your way, to ignite that passion within you for dentistry and to truly help you discover who you really are when it comes to the world of dentistry and the wider field. Are you aware that the Society has a number of special interest groups (SIGs) that work on specific projects and who contribute to the wider body of knowledge within the field? Some SIGs are more active than others, but they are always looking to grow and develop.
With an excellent body of knowledge across the Committee and Council, the Regional Representatives, the Advisors, the Honorary Fellows Board and the external links we are in an incredible position to saty on top of current issues and support or guide our members. If we want to see a difference we need to contribute, our voices need to be heard and actions need to be seen and this is just one of strands of work that make this possible.
We talk of retention and maintaining the workforce, but the time for talking has moved on, dental nursing has moved on and we either move on with it or move on from it and this currently seems to be a trend. It is time to reset the dial, life as a dental nurse can be rewarding and has opportunities – will you join a SIG and help moves things forward?
