Supporting Dental Nurses Restoring to The GDC Register

In 2024, the GDC reported a drop in dental nurses being removed from the register. Often, the removal from the register is related to CPD errors. The Society was involved in developing the Mythbuster for CPD, which is displayed on the GDC website – we have added the link below. If you were removed from the register in 2025, the Society can offer brief guidance to non-members; however, we do not offer 1-1 support to members.

Please remember, if you have been removed from the register, you must not work ‘Chair-side’ until you have been restored to the register.

You must follow the notice from the GDC to be able to restore to the register. The link to read further about restoring to the register is below.

If you have been off the register for 12 months or more (or previously been removed for not complying with CPD requirements), you will also need to send CPD evidence, which will include:

  • verifiable CPD certificates
  • CPD activity log, detailing the activities you’ve completed
  • Personal Development Plan (PDP).

The link to the application form to apply to be restored to the register is here: https://www.gdc-uk.org/docs/default-source/registration/restoration/dcp-restoration-formeb364631-4c56-472f-8b26-835bf942e114.pdf?sfvrsn=5d223f3e_17 If you need guidance get in touch, if you are a member contact the team via admin@bdns.org.uk and book a 1-1 support session.

You may of course be considering appealing against the GDC’s decision to remove from the register due to CPD errors. For further information on what happens before, during and after an appeal hearing, please follow the link. https://www.dentalhearings.org/attending-an-appeal
