Elaine Tilling is announced as the new Patron of the Society of British Dental Nurses
Elaine began her life in dentistry as a dental assistant (nurse) in 1978 and then as a dental hygienist whilst serving in the RAF in 1982, where she became Officer Commanding Dental Hygienist Training for the three armed services. Elaine served for 25 years both at home and abroad and was the first woman and dental hygienist to be awarded the Lean Memorial Award, an award usually given to dentists in the RAF.
Many of you may know Elaine from her time as the Clinical Education Project Manager at Tepe and her determination to support and develop the education and empowerment of the whole dental team when it comes to health promotion.
Elaine has been a huge advocate and supporter of dental nurses and dental nursing over the years and this passion was quickly spotted by the Society. Elaine has always been a wise voice for the Society and we are delighted that she feels that she can give time to the role of Patron to allow the Society to continue on their exciting journey forwards.
‘The icing on the cake after a wonderful career in dentistry’
So, onwards and upwards for the Society with vision and hope for the future and a final comment from Clare ‘we smile in the face of adversity’.
