Professor Adrian Thorp has been appointed President of the British Association of Oral Surgeons (BAOS)
We are delighted to see that Adrian has assumed the presidency for BAOS. The Society are partners of the organisation, supporting the dental nursing arm. Prof. Thorp generously spoke for the Society at the 10th Anniversary event in Manchester in 2025, discussing the role of dental nursing, its’ evolution and he shared the grading approach he has adopted within the Community Dental Services (CDS), as the dental nursing career progression pathway.

Whilst he shines a light on oral surgery and the developmental pathway for Tier 2 and specialist services and we acknowledge this will be a strong component of his ambition for the organisation, we wish to highlight that Adrian champions the whole dental team and is a strong advocate for teamwork and valuing the whole teams contributions.

Adrian also hosted an excellent session at the BDIA Conference on ‘Skill Mix’ with the Dental Professional Alliance and was excellent. We wish him every success in his presidency and the Society will continue to support the work of BAOS as it opens up its network to the whole team.
