GDC Invites Applications for the fitness to practice panel.

Please see the notice below frmo the General Dental Council

Last week we announced that we were looking for around 40 new people to join out fitness to practise panel.

We are particularly keen to hear from dental care professionals (DCPs) (all titles) for this important role, as DCPs are currently underrepresented on the fitness to practise panel. You will also know that we do our best to ensure that there is a DCP panel member on committees hearing cases that involve DCPs. That is made easier if we have sufficient representation. We would be grateful if you make your members aware of the call for new panel members, and that we are encouraging applications from DCPs.

We have provided comprehensive FAQs for those wanting to apply, which includes details of eligibility and benefits of taking up the role.

You will find full details of the role and how to apply on our website. Please click the link to review the GDC page

“I have developed and refined many subtle skills, such as listening with a truly open mind, expressing myself clearly to people who may not think in same the way I do, persuading, and being prepared to change my mind when presented with a different viewpoint that I had not considered before.” (GDC panellist)

“I have been able to take back to the practice many positives to ensure the highest quality of care for my patients. It has allowed the dental team to feel confident, secure and guided when providing care to patients. On a personal level it has helped me develop more open thoughts and views.” (GDC panellist)

“It can be challenging, sometimes difficult, and occasionally unexpected, but being a member of the fitness to practise panels has always been a rewarding experience. Fellow panellists are consistently welcoming. I have learnt so much from listening and talking to others.” (GDC panellist)
